Do’s & Don’ts – Camera batteries can swell due to a few reasons: 1: Not charging them in a proper 5V 1-2A (5W or 10W)charger. 2: Using rapid charging too often. 3: Not allowing batteries to cool down before charging them. 4: Not allowing batteries to cool down after charging them and using them in the camera straight away. 5: Not cycling batteries properly (discharging them to at least 35% before charging them). 6: Leaving batteries in a charger when fully charged. Doing the above or any combination of the above will shorten battery life and can cause swelling.
